Breeds, ages and names ... we do our best!
We rarely have a reliable history of the animals that come to us. The suggested breeds & ages are stated in good faith and based on our experience over 25 years. Similarly, most dogs arrive without a name tag so they're given temporary names. Feel free to choose a new name & see how quickly your dog adapts!

Teddy came to us with a skin condition but it certainly doesn't affect his lively personality! His skin has now almost completely healed but his course of medication will continue for another month or so. Ring the shelter on (03) 9824 7928 for further information.

Meet Melissa and her pups below

Melissa is a 2-year-old cross breed and she's mum to 9 pups. One of them (Brendan) is still looking for a home. Melissa is affectionate and extremely intelligent ... and once she's finished raising her pups she'll be looking for a home of her own with a lot of human company. When that time comes she'll appear on the Medium & Large Dogs page. In the meantime, we're happy to accept expressions of interest in adopting Melissa on (03) 9824 7928.

Like their mum, the pups are cross breeds. It can be difficult to identify breeds in cross breed dogs but suggested inclusions are Staffy, Rottweiler, Akita, Husky, Mastiff.

From Rupert's foster home: Everyone who’s met Rupert thinks he's adorable. He has big loving eyes and unusual colouring, but his best feature by far is his waggy tail. His hobbies include playing with other dogs, toys and splashing about in his paddling pool. He also likes to sleep - the bigger the bed, the better and he snores like a drunken sailor! (So cute). He can sit, drop and heel and no longer jumps up on people, so he's good at cafes and with children. He is a wonderful boy but has developed special needs since arriving at SADS, so he'll need an understanding new owner. Please call the shelter on (03) 9824 7928 for further information.
