Humphrey is a happy and confident young tabby cat, much admired for his medium-long, silky fur, big paws with tufts, and his appealing and intelligent expression. Humphrey’s greatest quality as a companion is his attachment to his human, following from room to room, indoors and outdoors. He loves attention and being stroked, but failing that is happy simply to be near you, whether sleeping under a bush in the garden or under the table indoors. This also means he rarely wanders from home. Humphrey quickly welcomes strangers, though he may initially be a little wary of some men.

A fairly quiet cat, Humphrey generally becomes vocal only when food is delayed. His preference is for non-fishy cans, though he enjoys fresh cooked fish as well as raw chicken necks for special meals, and he adores cheesy treats. He’s not a big fan of being brushed - he wants to play-fight with the brush - but with a firm hand holding him down, he’s quite happy about it and will purr at the attention. He is thoroughly house-trained.

Humphrey’s confidence lets him accept noisy vacuum cleaners and washing machines without flinching. He is on the alert for other cats passing through his garden - though so far he has just kept a watching brief on the intruder and shown no signs of aggression. He is not really into toys and games, but as he loves humans and hands, and is very fast, he sometimes gets carried away and wants to fight the hand behind the toy. However, he is very remorseful if he thinks he has hurt you, and will happily lick your hand or arm for minutes on end. He can get quite excited in attacking rugs and towels on the floor, but is generally a sedentary cat.

He would be an ideal companion for someone who is at home on most days - while he doesn’t require constant attention, he is quite needy for companionship. He purrs easily, especially at bedtime, and gives back a lot of attention to his owner. He’s not a lap-cat, and prefers to sit against you, resting his head and sometimes his front paws on your leg or hand. Being young, male and occasionally boisterous, he would probably fit well into an adult home.
