"YARRAMBAT"
A New Property to take SADS into the Future!

Our new 33-acre
property at Yarrambat has a permit for
210 dogs and 50 cats. In order to make
the property operational as an animal
shelter, we're required to (1) erect an
acoustic fence and (2) modify the existing
boarding kennels and cattery to comply
with our shelter code. Once we complete
these alterations we will operate Yarrambat
in conjunction with our current home in
Glen Iris to dramatically expand our work.

Thank
you for your
wonderful response to the
$104,000 Acoustic Fence Appeal!
The first step to making Yarrambat
operational as an animal shelter was
to construct the required
acoustic fence at a cost of $104,000.
Thanks
to your wonderful generosity, and
especially the major donation from
the "Handley Trust" at the
instigation of Fran Handley, the fence
is now nearing completion and we're
preparing for the next step —
modifying the kennels and cattery
to comply with our shelter code.
We'll soon post details of the required
modifications together with an appeal
to help us fund that work.
We will very much need your help.
This is a huge financial commitment
but it's worth it for the animals.
Please help us to help them.
Many
municipalities are already desperate
for us to take their dogs so they
won't have to kill them. In order
to save those dogs and many more,
we MUST get the new property operational
as soon as possible.

HOW
TO HELP #2 — DONATE
GOODS — Household goods
18
February 2010:
Thank you very much for your wonderful donations
of household goods! A final delivery went
up to Yarrambat today. As
time progresses, we'll need to ask for your
help in providing goods for the kennels
and cattery. We'll post our requirements
here.
HOW
TO HELP #3 — VOLUNTEERING
30
January 2010: As
time goes on, we'll be seeking volunteers
to help with all kinds of work including
property maintenance, kennels, cattery,
gardening, residence maintenance, help with
removal, etc. As specific needs arise, we'll
post them here.
Note about public transport:
There's good public transport to our Yarrambat
property via both bus and train. A public
bus from Kew runs straight past our front
door. In addition, the Hurstbridge train
station (Hurstbridge line) is only 5 minutes
away by car so we can easily do pickups
from there. We'll post more detailed information
shortly.
