CAMPAIGN
HISTORY
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
(18 September 2006)
Vic Roads still has no
intention of providing any wall/acoustic
barrier next to the new pound/shelter. One
reason given by VicRoads for refursing to
provide protection from the freeway is that
they could not be seen to be favouring an
animal facility.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
(17 August 2006) — Meeting with VicRoads
and Stonnington Council Reps
Pam Weaver
our president will meet with Steve Brown
from Vic Roads on site along with representatives
from Stonnington Council on the morning
of Tuesday 29th August.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
(11 August 2006) — Meetings with Politicians
and Rally Planning
We will meet
onsite with politicians from both major
parties during the week of August 14th.
We're also beginning to plan a rally for
a Saturday or Sunday in late October or
November. If you'd be interested in attending
our rally, please let us know by emailing
us on jlk@saveadog.org.au
so we can plan approximate numbers for the
permit.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
(4 August 2006) — Outcome of VicRoads Meeting
On Tuesday
1st August, our President Pam Weaver and
three other Save-A-Dog Scheme representatives
met with staff from VicRoads. Although Pam
believed we were to meet with Gillian Miles,
we in fact met with both a Manager of Program
Development and an Acting Manager of Regional
Salaries Support.
The meeting
comprised the VicRoads people informing
us of VicRoads policy and stating that this
policy is not negotiable. The policy, as
many of you will know (as a result of responses
to letter and emails), states that barriers/fencing
not erected at the time of the freeway construction
are the responsibility of the council or
party that subsequently builds close to
the freeway.
It is now
important not only to continue our campaign
but to enhance it. To this end, we ask our
supporters to continue to lobby VicRoads
and politicians in whichever way you choose.
Save-A-Dog Scheme will continue to lobby
in as high profile a way as possible and
will apply for a permit to hold a public
rally. We will keep you informed on the
progress of our campaign.
CAMPAIGN UPDATE
(28 July 2006) — Meeting Scheduled with
VicRoads
We thank
the many of you who have written to VicRoads
voicing your concerns! As a result of your
many letters, Ms Gillian Miles, Director
Regional Services VicRoads, has contacted
Save-A-Dog Scheme and invited us to a meeting
scheduled for August 1st. We will post the
outcome of our meeting with VicRoads on
this page.
In the meantime
we've had some very supportive feedback
from politicians who said, depending on
the outcome of the meeting, they may or
may not need to help us.
We ask for
and truly appreciate your continued support
on this campaign.
